The Vitamin C Flush - a Critical Weapon in the Fight for Health

oranges. . . the hose that extinguishes the fire of inflammation

Health begins in the gut - the intestines; and, thanks to antibiotics, chlorinated water, bad diet, food allergens, and vaccinations, almost everyone has a major problem in their gut. Chronic gut inflammation, raging like an out-of-control forest fire, causes digestion issues, skin eruptions, weak immunity, allergies, autoimmune illness and a host of other health issues. The Vitamin C Flush is the fire hose needed to subdue the flames so the gut can begin to heal itself.

There are many factors today that irritate the lining of the gut, which by the way, is where 70% of our immune system resides. Antibiotics kill beneficial bacteria, allowing pathogenic bacteria to proliferate and produce toxins that damage the gut wall. Chlorine in our water is an irritant. A diet of processed and fast foods is an inflammation-producing diet; the Big Four are major inflammation inciters - sugar, wheat and refined flour, processed oils and dairy/excessive animal protein. Food allergens prompt the immune cells in the gut to mount an inflammatory defense. Vaccinations wreak havoc in the immune system and provoke additional inflammatory responses.

Once initiated, inflammation takes on a life of its own, very much like a brush fire. Inflamed cells produce inflammatory chemicals that infect their neighbors. While theoretically the gut lining replaces itself every three days, with rampant inflammation, cells are destroyed faster than they can be replaced. This results in a leaky gut where allergens and pathogens can pass directly into the blood stream, provoking numerous problems.

To get gut inflammation under control, you can remove irritants like The Big Four, chlorine, food allergens, etc., but although necessary, this isn't going to be enough. Massive doses of antioxidants are critical to shut down the inflammatory process so that the body can begin to repair itself and heal.

This is where the Vitamin C Flush can produce miraculous results. An extremely powerful antioxidant in itself, vitamin C also helps regenerate other antioxidants like glutathione and vitamin E. By saturating the gut lining tissue with vitamin C, you can begin to calm the tissue down. Vitamin C will also kill pathogens, but the primary function of the Flush is to saturate the tissues and shut down inflammation.

The Vitamin C Flush involves taking as much vitamin C as your body can tolerate. When you've reached "bowel tolerance," you will experience an enema-like evacuation of liquid from the rectum. You can get specific instructions on the Vitamin C Flush by calling or emailing the Beyond Health office at mail@beyondhealth.com.

Although the Flush results in an evacuation of the bowel, and will certainly solve any immediate constipation problems, it isn't the same as "colon cleansing." Colon cleansing involves taking specific agents that remove gunk from the colon. The Flush is different; its primary purpose is getting vitamin C into the tissues.

For people with leaky gut problems or gut inflammation, it's ideal to do the Flush once a week for 6 months, and then twice a month for a year - maintaining a vitamin C intake near bowel tolerance on days you don't do the Flush as well. (Instructions for this are also available from our office.) This will saturate the tissues at deeper and deeper levels.

One woman I know had very serious allergies and had gone into life-threatening anaphylactic shock 12 times. She also had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. By doing the Flush once a week for 6 months and then twice a month for a year in conjunction with an overall health program, she cured her Chronic Fatigue and never had another episode of anaphylactic shock - it's been about 20 years now.

When using mega doses of vitamin C, it is imperative to use the kind of very pure vitamin C sold at Beyond Health. Inferior supplements cause small problems in small doses, and big problems in large doses.

To restore health to the gut, it may also be necessary to address specific pathogens. It is always advisable to repopulate your gut with good bacteria (see Probiotic Formula) and supply the amino acid glutamine to help rebuild intestinal walls (see Endura Guard). To discover and avoid food allergens, keep a food/symptom diary. Remember that not all allergic reactions are immediate; some don't occur for hours, days, or even weeks.
