The days are growing shorter, colder and darker, foreshadowing year’s end. It’s a time for celebrating the gifts and accomplishments of 2017 and to look towards a new beginning in 2018.
If you’ve been following the 2017 Beyond Health Journey to Optimal Health, or even if you haven’t, this is a perfect time to review the various parameters of health we’ve looked at during the past year and assess where you are and where you’d like to be in relation to each.
There will be 5 more NewsClips this month which will review:
- The Mind and the Heart
- The Body – Exercise and Weight Loss
- Healthy Homes, Healthy Children and Healthy Families
- Vacations and Toxins
- Immunity and Aging
If you’ve been keeping a journal, you might want to write down what you’ve accomplished this year in each of these areas.
Most of us focus too much on what we haven’t accomplished, so this is a time to balance out the scale. Give yourself time to consider all that you’re proud of and fully appreciate yourself!
Maybe what you’ve achieved isn’t exactly what you set out to do. As John Lennon once said, “Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans.” But even if you haven’t lost every pound you’d hoped to lose, maybe you’ve learned more about healthy eating and made improvements in your diet. Or maybe you haven’t made it to the gym, but you started getting up from your desk more frequently to stretch and walk around.
Maybe you survived one or more major crises this year, like we did with Hurricane Irma. Survival, and all the heart, mind and grit it takes to do so counts too!
Every step in the right direction counts and moves you closer to better health and improved quality of life. In fact, the most lasting change usually comes from slow, gradual progress.
Now, appreciating yourself as the strong, capable and lovable person you are, reflect on what you want for yourself, if anything, in each area. Not to please anyone else, even your own Inner Critic! Just for yourself. And write it down in your journal to be used in planning for 2018.
Meanwhile, be sure you’re covering the basics: eating a good diet, avoiding toxins, and supplementing with at minimum our Wellness Kit #2: Multi, Vitamin C and Essential Fatty Acids (or Wellness Kit #1 with your own source of essential fatty acids from fish oil or flax seed.) If you haven’t yet tried this powerful trifecta, please do, and prepare to be amazed at how much better you feel taking the highest quality supplements available. Each kit is approximately a 3-month supply, which gives you an opportunity to experience the cumulative effects as dysfunctional cells are gradually replaced by healthy, functional cells.
For maximum results, if you’re exposed to lots of toxins, try Wellness Kit #3, and if you’re dealing with chronic illness, Wellness Kit #4. But our Wellness Kits #1 and #2 alone have worked many a miracle!
